After a short detour through the basement in the first part of our Luigi's Mansion 3 walkthrough, you are back in the Grand Lobby of this huge hotel that needs to be explored. The portraits of your friends are hung on the ceiling like trophies and a few joking ghosts continue to patrol quietly.

The fundamentals of the fight are simple: first you blind one of the ectoplasms with your lamp, then you vacuum it until the tail of the ghost is in the tube of the device. From there, the ghost will struggle as his "life" points decrease at full speed: follow his movements by moving in the opposite direction to his own with your stick.

This will cause a gauge to rise and you will then press A for a short time. This mechanism is very convenient, since it will allow you to crush other ghosts that you will not need to light to start the aspiration.

Floor 1: The Grand Lobby

See that big golden key on the other side of the reception desk? You're going to go get it directly with a good old ZL+ZR. Grab the key, then climb the few steps to reach the big door to unlock.

You need to get Professor Elvin Gadd out of there. You'll need to find the famous Dark-Light Device, introduced for the first time in the second opus of the Mansion series, to do it.

Go through the red door on your left and go to the very end of the next corridor. A locked iron door should appear, but don't panic, the key is not far away. The other door, just to your right, will reveal a very chic dressing room: when you admire yourself in the mirror on the right, you will notice that the wall behind you contains a light signal that you can flash. Once you turn it on, it will reveal the key to open the iron door seen earlier.

Unlock the armored door, and this room you'll find Dark-Light Device in a safe. You will only have to press X to materialize the content of certain paintings or to make objects appear.

Go back to Professor Elvin Gadd and set him free. After freeing him, the grandpa will ask you to accompany him to his body carcass in the basement. Leave the room together and take a direct right on this floor, to land on a new elevator whose button is blocked by a garbage can, ZL+ZR it. Back in the garage, you will meet your first major ghost, the first Luigi's Mansion 3 mini boss.

Boss: The Steward

The Steward has little life and is quite the coward, the only weapon that he has found is the cargo of suitcases he was unloading just before your arrival. The technique for beating him is simple, since you just have to wait until he throws you a suitcase to blind him and start to vacuum him. We're here on a tutorial boss so the Steward has only one phase and no particular pattern.

Once the threat is removed, the Professor will take a portable lab out of his chest and give you one of his inventions, the VB, or Virtual Boo. It will serve as a map and interface throughout the adventure.

Oh by the way, Peter dropped two elevator buttons, one for the fifth: that's good, the professor has another invention that you absolutely must find on this floor. Let's go to the elevator.
