Diablo 4: Quality & rarity of the items
- As presented at the conference on Diablo 4 features, in general terms, the game will use Diablo 3's system for item quality. It starts with common items, then magical, then rare, followed by legendary items, and those of the whole.
- An important point of clarification from the developers is that they want a combination of individual legendary items to be at least as powerful as a set. They no longer want set-based builds to dominate the entire meta game.
- As in Diablo 3, legendary items have a special power that changes the gameplay in one form or another, while set items offer bonuses when you wear several pieces of the same set.
- The system of legendary ancient items comes next, then a new rank, the mythical items, which we will discuss a little later.
- Another notable clarification from the developers is that they do not expect to rain the legendary ones as in Diablo 3. Advancing in high-level content and difficulty modes will allow you to find better quality items, including legendary ones similar to those you already have, improved. But that the amount of legendary loot in itself will not increase.
- In parallel, it has been confirmed that magic find statistics will make its big comeback, but that it will not be something obtained at the expense of power. It seems that it will be mainly present on gems.
Mythical items
- Above the legendary items are the mythical items. They have 4 different legendary powers, but you can only equip one of them.
- For the moment, we do not know if their 4 powers are randomly determined, or if they are fixed. If they are random, it will effectively make the search for the perfect mythical items a long-term hunt.
Crafts, gems, runes & item exchanges
- The developers have confirmed that craftsmanship will be more important, if you take the time to collect the components for a craft, the result will be worth it. We don't know any more at the moment.
- The gems will be present, but it seems that their bonuses will be mostly useful, such as searching for gold and magic items.
