Jason Schreier, Kotaku journalist and man with many contacts in the video game industry, has reported today that Horizon Zero Dawn, the PS4 exclusive developed by Sony-owned Guerrilla Games, will hit PC storefronts this year. This information is said to come from three contacts with knowledge of Sony's plans.
It would be a rather clever move from the Japanese firm — with Horizon Zero Dawn 2 reportedly in the pipeline for the upcoming PS5, it would be a good marketing move to have as many people as possible experience Aloy's first adventures.
Despite it coming to the Epic Games Store later this year, Jason Schreier points out that although Death Stranding was partly financed by Sony, it is actually Kojima Productions that developed and published the title, in a temporary exclusivity deal. Horizon Zero Dawn would be the first first-party Sony title to make the leap to PC.
In any case, it's pleasing to see that console manufacturers are thinking about PC releases in order to build loyalty with their IPs. After the postponements of Final Fantasy VII Remake and Cyberpunk 2077 this week, good news doesn't hurt — especially since according to the American journalist, Horizon Zero Dawn wouldn't be the only exclusive to make the way to this medium.
