The data miners were right: Epic Games decided to delay the launch of the next season of Fortnite by two weeks. Originally scheduled for February 6, the much-anticipated Chapter 2 Season 2 will actually be launched on February 20. A significant delay, even though Season 1 was the longest ever on the battle royale, approaching four months of longevity.
In the official Epic Games press release, we also learn that this delay is due to the implementation, at the beginning of February, of v11.50 and especially of a new physics engine: Unreal Engine Chaos. A two-week event is also in preparation to close Season 1!
This new engine will imply major changes for the game, and confirms the thesis of a change of pace for Chapter 2. Previously set to last two months and without being synonymous with radical changes, the seasons seem to become much longer, but each of them is synonymous with a revolution for the game. Season 1 had introduced a new island and new nautical features. Season 2 will focus on graphics.
Epic Games says that the introduction of the new physics engine will be done initially with small panels of players, to test the functionality and avoid as much FPS loss as possible on most machines.
