The Chinese government is currently having to deal with the severity of the coronavirus epidemic, and the measures of containment and movement restrictions have logically had an impact on all manufacturing activities. We know that production of Nintendo Switch is suffering, but video game development is also beginning to be impacted.
With that said, the Switch edition of The Outer Worlds has now been delayed from an initial release date of March 6, 2020. The new release date is now scheduled for April 1, 2020.
The reason is that The Outer Worlds is developed by Virtuos, whose offices are located in China.
However, this delay seems to have a beneficial consequence — they have announced a physical release instead of just a download code!
