Riot Scruffy unveiled the League of Legends' roadmap for the coming season, detailing changes to the nerf and buff system, as well as changes planned for certain champions, items but also roles (such as jungle).
Champions balance system
To choose if a champion needs a nerf or a buff, Riot Games use this method:
Riot, therefore, tightened the grip on the nerfs. Nevertheless, the changes are not drastic and will only impact a few champions.
Extension of the jungler pool
Riot again highlights the lack of interest in the jungle at low elo, pointing out that the jungle is the least appreciated role among the 5 for low elo players. Riot, therefore, wants to offer a two-step change to address this. First, minor changes for patch 10.4 and then more in-depth changes to come in the future of season 10. For now, Riot wants to expand the pool of jungle champions by offering them a buff that will allow them to clear the jungle better without impacting their lane playing style. The concerned champions are :
- Garen
- Diana
- Zed
- Talon
- Darius
Champions balance
In the first place, it's Soraka who's going to be the focus of Riot's attention especially for her Q - Starcall. The goal is to make her less powerful in the melee match-ups and to bring the Starchild back to the bot lane.
Then, Aphelios is highlighted with 4 modifications planned for the next patches :
- Improved visibility for his weapons: added a weapon icon next to his life bar to know which weapon the champion is currently using.
- A less hard to read ultimate with a reduction of the range and different colors depending on the effect to better understand what is happening.
- Enhanced visuals for the turrets to better understand when they attack us and the danger they represent
- Future balances: the champion is still too powerful and nerfs should be coming soon
Items changes
Sunfire Cape is in the spotlight for Riot who would like to improve it (see PBE patch 10.4) and at the same time give some power back to tanks especially during the lategame:
UNIQUE Passive: Immolate: Burns nearby enemies for [26 to 43] magic damage per second. For 4 seconds after immobilizing any enemy, the burn deals an additional +1.5% Bonus Health) damage per second. Immolate's damage is increased by 50% to minions and monsters.
Finally, the Stopwatch should undergo some changes/nerfs. The omnipresence - for all champions - of this item makes it far too powerful when it should only be situational. Riot is therefore looking for changes to be made to reduce its impact on the rift and give it the "situational" role desired in the first place.
Riot has a busy schedule for season 10. Changes are planned in all four corners of the map and Scruffy has also talked more discreetly about changes for the top lane which are not yet developed enough to be discussed.
