Epic Games postpones Fortnite Season 3 to support the BlackLivesMatter movement

Like many other publishers, Epic Games is coming out of its silence and taking a stand to fight and denounce racism, following the social movements that have been burning in the United States for several days. In a statement bearing the ideals of justice and equality, the publisher informed the Fortnite community that both the event The Device and the beginning of Season 3 were postponed to later dates.

The event will be held on Monday, June 15 and the launch of Season 3 will take place on June 17.

Epic Games emphasizes the need to give time to focus "on themselves, their families, and their communities."

The creators of Fortnite aren't the first to speak out in the current social context and denounce the pervasiveness of racism in the United States. Other publishers, such as Sony, have told their players that this isn't the time to celebrate and that other voices need to be heard first in these times of crisis.

With this new delay, Chapter 2 Season 2 will last a total of 118 days, taking it to second place in the ranking of longest Fortnite seasons, behind Chapter 2 Season 1 (128 days).
