Far Cry 6: Giancarlo Esposito explains the character of Anton Castillo

We now know that Giancarlo Esposito, who plays in Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul and The Mandalorian, will play the antagonist of this new chapter, the opportunity to learn more about this tyrannical character who seems psychically unstable.

During an interview with our colleagues from Variety, Giancarlo Esposito indicated that Castillo is a former child soldier, born in a golden cradle and with a silver spoon, he didn't miss anything and he is a character having always wanted to be a better dictator than his father was, unfortunately, he managed to become hated among his people. Like the decor and the atmosphere that emerges from this first trailer, we quickly make the connection with Cuba and Fidel Castro, to which Castillo has close similarities, in particular vis-à-vis political alliances. Esposito was also inspired by Mugabe, the late ex-president of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Winston Churchill and other dictators met during a trip to Burkina Faso.

As a reminder, Far Cry 6 will be available on February 18, 2021, on PS5, Xbox Series X, PS4, Xbox One and PC.

He's really looking to do well, but he lives in a world that is gradually accelerating faster than him. And he must find the values that his people will be able to exploit, and allow them to believe in them, all this in the middle of a civil revolution unfolding in his country with several factions that he must stifle ... and he try to educate a son. [...] His son is not as tall as he would like him to be. He wants to see him grow faster, he wants to give him the skills and make him understand that he has the power of life and death. It is very hard to grasp for a young man going through puberty. How can we turn away from our youth to grow up as a grown adult to lead an island nation?
