After giving Spider-Man exclusivity to its PlayStation subsidiary, Sony seems to want to treat itself to Marvel's Avengers, or in any case, to please its PS4 and PS5 players. Indeed, in a post published by Andy Wong, the community manager of Crystal Dynamics, we learn that several community challenges and cosmetic elements will join the PS4 and PS5 offer.
On top of that, players will have access to a Legendary Outfit and Emote, an Epic Finisher, and a Superhero ID Plate for 30 days, scheduled post-launch. Let's not forget that PS Plus members will receive a free pack including a rare outfit, nameplates and 100 credits to celebrate the arrival of each new Avenger, as well as a free bundle celebrating Kamala aka Ms. Marvel, upon launch of Marvel's Avengers.
As a reminder, Marvel's Avengers will be available on September 4, on PS4, Xbox One, PC and a little later on PS5, Xbox Series X and Stadia.
Community challenges
The Avengers, while they all have their own stories, still work as a team to save the world from threats. They obviously help themselves with their superpowers and their specialized training. While you can't use lightning or throw a gamma bomb with unparalleled force, you can always take inspiration from their comics and collaborate for the good of all! And that's where community challenges come in.
Community challenges are objectives to be achieved collectively so that the whole community is rewarded. We won't go into all the objectives and rewards in detail now, but we can tell you that there is no need to have a particular level to participate: anyone can lend a helping hand and enjoy the rewards. . Avengers cosmetic items
The new superheroes who join your squad after the game's release, including the recently unveiled Hawkeye, and his overly-repressed emotions, don't arrive empty-handed. They all have their own stories, their own skills, their own gear, their own outfits, their own emotes, their own nameplates and their own finishing moves so you can fully enjoy their character. This is all the more true for the various cosmetic items, as we know how important alternate outfits are for these iconic characters who have donned many costumes throughout Marvel history.
Cosmetic items also have their own rarity: Special, Rare (Blue), Epic (Purple), and Legendary (Gold). Most can be obtained in the Campaign by decoding models obtained in Missions, from the Shop, from a Vendor, and more. Take the Champion Outfit for Hulk as an example of Legendary Outfit. This outfit is inspired by his style in the Planet Hulk comic, released in 2006. It was in this opus that he was sent into space after being deemed too dangerous. After landing on the planet Sakaar, he was forced to participate in gladiatorial fights. It is these legendary stories that inspired us to create our legendary outfits!
Finishing blows are cosmetic abilities that allow superheroes to perform a devastating combo in the middle of combat under certain conditions. Each knockout reflects the personality of a superhero. These knockouts are some of the flashiest combos you can equip. Awaken the Hulk inside Kamala with one of Ms. Marvel's epic finishing moves and crush your enemies like the true Avengers fan that she is.
You won't get any gameplay benefits if you use cosmetic items. As the name suggests, they only fulfill a cosmetic role and allow you to customize each superhero. If you're feeling in a regal mood, equip Thor's Royal Aesir outfit. If you're feeling nostalgic on your travels, you can equip her Power of Asgard outfit. Additionally, if you are playing with an AI team, they will wear the outfits you assigned to them. This allows you to completely customize your team, right down to the outfits for each superhero.
