Hosting tournaments open to all in a free game is no easy task, Epic Games has admitted bluntly with regard to Fortnite.
However, the actions of some players have not gone unnoticed by the developer, specificially high-level players who indulge in cheating to gain an advantage in competition.
While Epic has not yet found an infallible solution, they are nevertheless working with a view to curbing this scourge.
The press release states that a flaw in the game system has affected the detection and automatic banning of cheaters, but that the flaw has now been resolved.
In addition, all accounts that have engaged in cheating during the various phases of the FNCS this season have been banned.
A new way to denounce cheaters
Epic have also implemented a new way to bring cheating to light. Now, if you detect an in-game cheater, you can report them directly it via this link .
Each report will be analyzed individually. If no action is taken, Epic explains that there are two possible reasons: either the player is still under investigation, or they didn't violate any rules and the request was unsuccessful.
With the arrival of Chapter 2, Season 4, Epic will review its internal regulations to work towards the smooth running of tournaments, and now wishes to be more transparent about the different actions taken.
More information on this point will be communicated at the dawn of future FNCS events.
