The two giants have entered into a "deep communication" with the goal of increasing FC Barcelona's presence in the world of esports. The club, which already sponsors PES 2020 players and a Rocket League team, is visibly attempting to expand its influence in this sector.

While their exact intentions are not yet clear, both organisations are expected to collaborate with one another to mutually advance their understanding of the sports and esports landscape.

According to TheEsportObserver, Barcelona have committed over $300M into their digital endeavours, which most notably includes webTV, a video platform dedicated to esports and traditional sports. TheEsportObserver has also reported that FC Barcelona intends to acquire a League of Legends team — something that Tencent will be able to facilitate as full owners of Riot Games.
