No truce between Epic Games and Apple after the creators of Fortnite decided to rise up against the 30% tax on online purchases affixed to games using the App Store. The apple brand neutralized Epic Games' App Store developer accounts. As a result, Epic Games will no longer be able to offer its future applications nor deploy updates for existing applications.
These include Fortnite, which was unable to deploy update 14.00 and the launch of Chapter 2 Season 4 on iOS, but also Epic Games' stamped mobile games, such as Battle Breakers. Other titles, such as Spyjinx, may not see the light of day on iOS machines anytime soon...
However, as required by the US court, the Unreal Engine will remain accessible to all developers around the world, even those working on iOS. Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers considered in the first hearing that the disagreement between the two companies mustn't harm the other players in the videogame ecosystem, i.e. the development studios that use the Unreal Engine via Apple devices.
In other words, access to the Unreal Engine remains unchanged by Apple, which cannot restrict its use, even if the Californian giant has launched a policy of reprisals against Epic.
