It seems that the offices of Activision Blizzard in Versailles should close their doors soon, according to some anonymous sources who are close to this restructuring plan.
Until the beginning of last year, in 2019, these offices had more or less 400 employees whose role was mainly focused on customer support, marketing and localization of the video games that Activision Blizzard publishes in Europe.
According to these same sources, the company originally planned to relocate half of its workforce from Versailles to London, but Brexit and Covid-19 would have made this decision complex. This would have led the directors of the company to put an end to the existence of their office in France instead.
Originally, these offices were located in Versailles at a time when Blizzard and Activision were not yet under the same banner. But with the major restructuring that took place among the company's workforce in 2019, cutting nearly 800 jobs, the Versailles teams found themselves heavily impacted with the loss of 134 jobs, more than a quarter of their workforce.
If this closure were to be formalized (which will not be long, if we are to believe Jason Schreier and his sources on Bloomberg), it would be the end of the presence of Activision Blizzard on French territory after long years of activity and nearly two years of significant turbulence and doubts for those who are still working on the spot for the moment.
