Ubisoft announced that its planned remake of the popular 2003 title Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time has been postponed by a few months.
The game was originally set to release in January but was delayed until March 18. The Sands of Time was a new story in the Prince of Persia universe, which was originally a 1989 computer game about a character who has to travel through dungeons in ancient Persia to save a princess.
The 2003 title is widely considered a classic and features a prominent video game mechanic – the ability to rewind time.
The developers said that "2020 has been a year like no other" in a tweet announcing the delay, but didn't give specifics, other than they need more time to work on the game.
The original game sold more than 14 million copies up to this point. It is the latest in a string of titles delayed due to COVID-19, including Cyberpunk 2077, Far Cry 6, Dying Light 2, Deathloop, and many others.
Here's the launch trailer from earlier this year when Ubisoft announced the game.
