The press can finally touch the console versions of Cyberpunk 2077 and while the comparisons are starting to flourish everywhere, the VGC site has noticed that the famous performance / quality modes were simply absent from the PS5 version of the game for the moment (remember that this is the PS4 pro version with backward compatibility), while the option is present on Xbox Series X (images in the source).
Despite this absence, the game is still aiming for 60 frames per second on the latest Playstation and if we will obviously wait for the in-depth analyzes of technical specialists, the first feedback is (be careful, please note the quotes) "encouraging "on next-gen. Obviously, it remains to be seen how the game will fare in the long term, on the first PS4 and Xbox One, but also with the famous day one patch which is causing quite a stir.
As the article from the American site mentions, the reason for this absence from the day one could be linked to the way in which the backward compatibility is managed by the Sony console. While simple updates are enough to take advantage of the Xbox Series backwards compatibility, this would require full ports on the PS5 side and therefore more development time to achieve a convincing result (example is taken from Psyonix and their implementation of the 120hz mode on Rocket League).
Finally, if it means rambling on a bit, don't forget that the real new-gen optimization patches will arrive in 2021.
