Fans of the game Ark: Survival Evolved got a surprise during the Game Awards on Thursday, when developer Studio Wildcard announced not only a sequel but an animated series as well.
The sequel stars Vin Diesel as Santiago, and the trailer shows him in prehistoric clothing, where he's possibly a chieftain or some other authority figure.
He's herding a group of humans through some jungle terrain. Pretty soon some bad guys in white paint and covered in bones show up and a fight ensues, but then a T-Rex joins the fray.
Santiago and a young girl escape into a cavern, where they come across a glowing set of futuristic rings surrounded by monoliths with cave paintings on them.
As for the animated series, it follows the extended adventures of original protagonist Helena. It also features the voice talents of Diesel, as well as Russell Crowe and Gerard Butler.
