Among Us has its next update coming on March 31, bringing the new map which will be the biggest one in the game so far.
The Airship is the main feature of this update, bringing new tasks, the ability to choose which room to start in after meetings, and ladders. The ladders allow for more layers across the map, helping to increase the size, but this map also introduces moving platforms; which may cause issues when responding to a time-sensitive sabotage.
Along with the new map, as well as some bug fixes, comes the addition of accounts. While it will be basic, the idea is that it will allow for more moderation as players can be reported.
In the Devlog, the team took the time to be transparent about the game and why this update took so long.
The first is simply the popularity, it wasn't expected so the team moved on to other things, now they're being pulled back to work on Among Us again.
With the popularity, and size, comes more business things to handle and more legal things to consider; simply more obstacles to overcome. Mix that with the small team size, and it can take a while as people can only be working on one thing at a time.
As the game got pushed to more platforms, it created more work for the team. With the Switch launch being imminent, they thought it best to wait and make sure that was all polished and ready to go before pushing this update; as well as making sure the accounts system was finished too.
But we now get the new map, as well as free hats (perhaps) to thank us for our patience!
