Ubisoft has just announced a new instalment in The Division series, titled Heartland. It will be free-to-play, and will be available on consoles — PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series — and PC in 2021 or 2022.
Details are still scarce, but you can already sign up for future beta and test periods of the pre-launch game through this link .
It's claimed that this game will serve both as a gateway for new players, as well as for existing ones to find new adventures within the universe originally created by Tom Clancy.
More announcements from The Division universe
In addition to The Division Heartland, Ubisoft has announced several more new features for this license, perhaps the most surprising being the announcement of a mobile version of The Division without further details being disclosed.
The Division 2 has not finished its evolution, and Ubisoft Massive and Bucharest are still working on a new expansion for this title. This expansion will bring a new game mode to The Division franchise and "new methods of levelling up your agents, with an emphasis on increasing the variety of builds and viability." It is also stated that this content will arrive before the end of 2021, so it may be possible that we'll see the mobile version launching sometime this year — though there isn't anything official on that yet.
Ubisoft announced they would be making a film with Netflix in February 2019, starring Jessica Chastain and Jake Gyllenhaal, directed by Rawson Marshall Thrurber.
And finally, an official novel has been announced that will take place after the events of The Division 2, and explore the pandemic that is sweeping the world in different parts of the United States.
A lot of excitement for those who enjoy The Division, and also for those who were interested in it but had not yet dared to make the leap to the license.
