The Mandalorian was a series that captured multiple people, and became something that Star Wars fans could finally agree on and stop arguing over.
One of the things that has been discussed is that it lends itself perfectly to being adapted into a game. The show itself could easily be translated into a modern open world RPG, having main missions to work through, but stopping off to do side quests. Even upgrading gear as the series goes on.
Like the idea of it? Good, because it is happening.
In a deleted tweet, Nick "Shpeshal Ed" Baker said ""Ok. So you'll notice...there's a Mandalorian Funko on [Xbox boss] Phil Spencer's shelf. Yes. Someone is making a Mandalorian game."
After being deleted, the above tweet came out which only confirmed the claim.
Obviously, take it with a pinch of salt until we get actual confirmation, but Baker is an insider with a reliable track history of leaks and scoops. While it is unclear on the time scale, who is creating it, and what platforms it would be on, it would be a no-brainer to create a game given how popular the show is.
Just to clarify, Spencer hid the Xbox Series S on his shelf before it was announced, and The Ark of the Covenant was on Todd Howard's shelf to tease the upcoming Indiana Jones game from Bethesda. A Funko Pop on a shelf is definitely a hint at what is to come.
Further speculation claims that two Star Wars films are on their way, and one of them is being developed by a studio which specialises in massively multiplayer online games, apparently.
In an XboxEra episode, Baker stated that the Star Wars project is not being actively developed, but that Microsoft has had an interest in gaining more Lucasfilm IP for itself.
"I would not be surprised if High Republic is on that list, I would not be surprised if The Mandalorian is on that list," he explained. He also said that he believes something to do with Star Wars would be announced at the Microsoft's E3 2021 presentation; with ZeniMax Online Studios unveiling it. We'll just have to wait and see what comes, if anything!
