According to analyst Roberto Serrano, a new model is indeed being prepared, but is neither a 'Slim' version nor a 'Pro' version.
What would this new PS5 consist of? Under the hardware codename CFI-1115A, this potential new model was registered by Sony Group Corporation on April 26 and suggests that it is a revision of the console's hardware.
The documents refer specifically to a new Wi-Fi communication module that is more efficient, but no other information is available. Will this summer's conferences be an opportunity for Sony to publicize its future projects?
There's no doubt that we will soon know more about what the company is planning, especially in terms of upcoming releases. However, when it comes to hardware plans the picture is much less clear. Should a new console model be released and help alleviate the shortage of next-generation machines, that is of course welcome.
If Sony were to announce a new PS5 model, it wouldn't be the only manufacturer to do so -- rumours abound of Nintendo releasing an upgraded version of its Switch console.
