G2 Esports have announced they have entered the world of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs), and have also shared their plans for how they will make it sustainable in the long-term.
The first launch is on June 30th, 2021, and will apparently be free. As we get closer to the date, G2 promise to provide more information and content to help explain it all. There are four NFT drops planned for 2021.
They do, however, note the endless possibilities with NFTs, explicitly with art, video, and music, whilst also saying they want the NFTs to provide an exclusive experience. G2 want their NFTs to not only be visually appealing and an incredible collectible, but also grant something truly unique.
G2 Esports will be using Polygon Blockchain, which uses Proof of Stakes as opposed to Ethereum's Proof of Work. The aim is for the environmental impact to be minimal, making sure it is energy efficient.
Furthermore, the focus remains on the community. The idea is that owning a G2 NFT will be owning part of G2's journey. The goal is for them to hold value and for owners to enjoy exclusive rewards through.
It is for this reason, the first NFT will be free so people can educate themselves and have a chance to understand and see it, without any risk.
