We recently reported about the possibility of Netflix adding video games to its service — and now it's official. The announcement was made when presenting its latest earnings report.
The company has also confirmed that video games will be integrated into Netflix as if they were one more category, so that we can enjoy interactive entertainment in a similar way to what happens on platforms such as Apple Arcade — and there will be no additional subscription costs.
Netflix also indicated focus on the development of mobile games, stating "we will take our efforts starting from interactivity and games based on our own productions such as Stranger Things, although we are in the early stages of expansion."
They have also stated that the games will be "like a new category of content, similar to the expansions of original films, animation and unscripted television." — a change that is clearly needed after losing more than 400,000 users in North America.
