It's been a summer of several rumors about what video games Take Two will release in the remainder of this fiscal year.
A new rumour coming out about one of its subsidiaries, Rockstar Games, suggests that a GTA Remastered Trilogy is in development for PC and current and next-gen consoles - even for Nintendo Switch and Stadia.
The report comes from Kotaku, who suggest a release date coming this fall. While they have contacted Rockstar for confirmation, the developer has understandably remained tight-lipped, instead preferring to focus on content for GTA Online and Red Dead Online.
According to the rumour's source, these remasters will use Unreal Engine as a graphics engine, and will mix "old and new graphics" - suggesting something similar to a version of GTA with mods.
One of the main changes would come to the interface -- keeping the classic design, but at the same time being more accessible.
The studio in charge of the remastered trilogy is said to be Rockstar Dundee, who are also supporting work on the next-gen version of GTA V.
Rockstar Dundee, while relatively new to the Rockstar stable, has a lot of experience in video games under its former Ruffian Games guise -- working on titles such as Crackdown 2 and 3, and helping to create the Halo: Master Chief Collection.
According to the report, the ongoing pandemic has undermined Rockstar's plans for the launch of this trilogy, which apparently had been intended as a gift for those who purchased the next-gen versions of GTA V and GTA Online.
