An interview with Fredrik Wester — CEO of Paradox Interactive, who took over the sequel from Ebba Ljugerund in September — published by Avanza has revealed that Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 was almost canceled.
Originally expected in the first quarter of 2020 before being postponed for the first time, a second delay pushed it back to 2021. It is now expected in 2022.
This last setback followed Paradox's decision to take the project back and to dismiss Hardsuit Labs, which saw its narrative designer and creative director leave. After that, the game was almost dropped, and continuing production was called into question. Luckily for Dark World fans, development continued.
On the other hand, while Wester teases a "very famous and talented developer", we still don't know which studio which took over development of the title. He claims to be confident, in any case, but he still wants to see the community's reaction to the game before investing more in the genre.
If successful, other titles from the famous franchise could be developed.
