Fortnite: no event, little hype... Already a flop for this season 4?

Difficult beginnings with the community for this episode of BR. Backed by unexciting features, the traditional hype of the new season is already unraveling, after a few hours of existence. It's floundering at Epic Games. And not just in chrome.

Fortnite: no event, little hype... Already a flop for this season 4?

Season launches on Fortnite are always very big bursts of hype for Epic Games' Battle Royale. These periods are generally intertwined between a high-flying live event to end the previous season in style, and a shower of new features to discover in game.

However, for this brand new season 4, it's a bit of a scarcity. For the event, we will come back, and we will have to settle for a lukewarm cinematic. As for the content of the incoming season, we are far below what Epic Games had accustomed us to.

Come on! In bed without dessert or event

Even before maintenance ends, this fledgling Season 4 disappoints, as it isn't celebrated with a live event. The biggest data miners on the planet cherished the hope of an event a few days ago, so it was unthinkable to close the previous episode without final festivities.

And suddenly... Nothing.

We pass abruptly from a playful season to an invasion of chromatic liquid, without the slightest event to mark the occasion. However, on paper, it is not a smooth transition!

A battle pass already decried

On reddit, Fortnite players point to one of the worst battle passes ever offered by the publisher. The Pass skins (supposed to be the central characters of the seasonal plot) have the charisma of an oyster, and the headliner (Paradigm aka Brie Larson) pales in comparison to what we could see by the past.

Only Spider-Gwen saves the day a bit, as her design is so faithful to the original work.

Cool, but understated features

Inevitably, a season focused on a chrome that absorbs everything, it limits the field of possibilities. We have chrome guns, chrome grenades, we can change into chrome... You get the idea, and even if these features are done brilliantly (we especially like changing into silver slime form) , they are a bit dull and boring on screen. Where are the mopeds and motorcycles that datamining promised us? Where are the cartoonish features that spice up Fortnite?

Even if the features of this season remain very well done, it seems to us that they lead Fortnite into a dangerous monochromatism. Literally and figuratively .

A season saved on the length?

Many fans believe that this season has many surprises in store for us. We can expect intermediate events and festivities, which will give color to the season. We are thinking in particular of the approaching Fortnitemares, which are events that are constantly being pushed further by Epic Games. It will take at least that to pull this season up!
