New season of Fortnite rhymes with novelties but it is not necessarily the major changes that players expected with the arrival of this update .
A jaw-dropping graphical update for Fortnite
If you've launched the game since the arrival of Chapter 4 , you will no doubt have already noticed the drastic changes that this update has brought to the Battle Royal. Indeed with this update Epic Games has decided to take the full potential of its own graphics engine and launch it in the face of its players.
From changes to the light on the surface of the water or to the reflections on the textures the difference is obvious and these changes really help to see something new in this new chapter in addition to the differences in the gameplay.
Here is a comparison posted on Reddit by u/Jtneagle and you can really see the difference at a glance. Of course, it remains to be seen how the update impacts gameplay and performance, but from a graphical point of view there is no doubt about the success of the operation.
Epic Games and the Unreal Engine
This new Fortnite update is mainly based on the systems called Nanite and Lumen, key components of Unreal Engine 5.1.
This game engine is used in a multitude of games and, as you may know, is developed by Epic Games, which therefore allows them to always prepare their game in advance of the release of new graphic technologies.
This is not the first time that Epic Games has taken advantage of its advance in technology to make a game shine. You may remember Infinity Blade, this mobile game released more than ten years ago was at the most beautiful mobile game we've ever seen . Entirely based on the Unreal Engine, it was a first in the field and it was this technical advantage offered by Epic Games over its own game that had earned it resounding success.
