One of three players who has completely flown over the Fortnite Champion Series Season 10 so far, Dmitri "Mitr0" Van de Vrie — part of a trio with Mongraal and benjyfishy — will be one of the contenders to be feared during this weekend's FNCS Grand Finals. However, a few days before kick-off, Mitr0 and his current org, Team Atlantis, have found themselves at the heart of a controversy growing on social networks.
Within a few hours, the #freemitr0 hashtag had become viral on Twitter. In fact, many professional players from all over the world are asking the European org to free Mitr0 from his current contract. Thump, Tfue and even his teammate benjyfishy took the lead, denouncing a situation in which the player was underpaid for his performances.
Team Atlantis has published its official response, which states that Mitr0 will be able to leave its current org after this weekend's FNCS Finals. The player and his mother had signed a contract that secured a salary raise in January 2019, but Mitr0's ambitions quickly exceeded those of his org.
It's another example of a public conflict between player and organisation. Tfue himself went through a similar situation not too long ago.
