While the PS5 will obviously feature new technologies, such as an SSD drive as standard and a ray-tracing system managed entirely by hardware, Wired also got some juicy details about the DualShock 5 controller. Here is a short list of the features mentioned:
- Haptic feedback: this is a feature well-known to users of the latest generation of smartphones, and allows sensations of 'touch' thanks to localized micro-vibrations.
- Adaptive triggers: Developers can now manage the resistance of the triggers to give better gameplay sensations — when you draw a bow, or even when you have to climb a hill in a car, the trigger should show some resistance.
- The DualShock 5 battery will be better than that of the DualShock 4, and the PS5 controller will be heavier than its predecessor. The controller will be charged via USB Type-C, instead of the current Micro USB.
The release date and price of the console are still unknown, as its catalogue of launch games. However, we do know that the PlayStation 5 will be launched in late 2020 worldwide.
