As we learn from the developers' diary, one of the differences between DOOM Eternal and DOOM 2016 is the management of online content, especially for those who will have linked a Bethesda.net account with the platform on which they will play DOOM Eternal.
At the moment, there is no official program for updates, but some content patches are to be expected. There will also be many features that will unlock cosmetics that can be used during the single player campaign, either through the hands of your Doom Slayer or through the cutscenes that use the game engine.
An example being the fantastic Doomicorn outfit. This will shine especially in multiplayer, as the demons are also provided with funny skins.
There are no microtransactions in DOOM Eternal, so cosmetic elements will be obtained by fulfilling specific conditions (event, account linking, achievements) or simply by gaining enough experience to progress, as well as the cosmetic pack of the moment.
DOOM Eternal: Experience, Booster XP & weekly challenges
The experience is obtained in multiple ways. The first is simply to progress in the single-player campaign and to complete its different objectives. Re-doing missions, changing the difficulty level and doing Master Levels also has an impact.
- Play the online mode. BATTLEMODE is also a massive source of experience. The Invasion Mode, planned for later, will offer an alternative.
- You will also be able to add your friends and the players you played with to your special XP Booster page. It has only 3 slots, so you will have to choose very active players, because every time the players in this list perform actions that make them gain experience, you will get a percentage too.
- A weekly challenge list will also allow you to gain large amounts of experience by completing the listed actions in any game mode. They are based on the same principle as Mission Challenges.
