Saltpeter is a key resource in New World for the which players can mine. The process is quite similar to mining boulders, but are dark with a light mottled pattern.

What do you need Saltpeter for in New World?
A special type of rock, Saltpeter is a key component in Engineers being able to craft Gunpowder, which in turn is used to create Cartridges for the Musket.
In order to mine Saltpeter, you'll need a Mining Pickaxe. There's no level requirement to mine the resource.
The best locations to farm Saltpeter in New World
Saltpeter is plentiful in Aeternum, but there are naturally clusters you can power-farm to save time and maximise output. It's almost always found in caves. Here's a few we recommend.
Northern Brightwood
There's quite a few nodes in northern Brightwood. Fast travel into Fort Alazar Shrine, then run a clockwise route around the mountain range to Wolfbough Shrine and back again.
Southern Brightwood
A good in-and-out route, you can fast travel into Alchemist's Shrine then farm the nodes around the Verdant Cavern and the Azoth Tree.
Ebonscale Reach
From the Settlement, head into the Thunderking Grotto, where you'll find several nodes. There's a few up at Thunder Harbour on the coast, too.
Everfall
Possibly the single best farming spot, fast travel to the Shadowmine Shrine and then head northwest to Ebonrock Quarry.
Feast on all the Saltpeter there!
Monarch's Bluffs
There's three small clusters in the vicinity of Dreadscythe Shrine. One is to the south, inside Deadman's Cove. The second is north at Lodestone Lair. The final cluster is just across the border into Cutlass Keys, in Castaway's Colony.
Restless Shore
There's two great clusters in Restless Shore. Fast travel into the Shrine of Sisyphos and head south into Cutthroat Cavern for the first, then slightly further south into Arclight Cavern for the second.
Weaver's Fen
You'll find a few nodes along the Vega Bridge, as well as in Hazel's Cave to the southeast.
Windsward
There are two main clusters in Windsward, both to the southeast of the Settlement. The first can be found in Dankfur Hollow, the second and larger in Torrentdawn Cave.
