As players around the world struggle to guess what lies behind the identified phone messages in several languages, Fortnite has just launched its second official teaser. On Twitter, a message mentioning an "intercepted transmission" has been revealed, with the start date of Season 2 at the top left (02/20/2020) and an unidentified relief at the bottom.
At the same time, the Battle Pass tab on the official website changed and now shows the golden hand, surrounded by gold bands.
An evolving image
At 9 am (PT) on February 17, another Fortnite publication shows an evolution of the "Transmission Intercepted" image. New topographic data emerge — the percentages at the very bottom — while a kind of face appears in the center.
At 1 pm (PT), the "Transmission Intercepted" image clarified again. From now on, the word "Henchmen" written in several languages can be clearly seen, while a blurred face begins to appear in the background. Scattered pieces of gold seem to give final clues in the foreground.
In addition, the percentage mentioned at the bottom of the picture — which was previously 16% — now indicates 65%.
Even later, a fourth clearer version of "Transmission Intercepted" image appeared. It shows the unblurred gold bust with the E.G.O. badge, but more importantly a drawing in the corner. It's a mountain topography, with the metal door of the secret bunker clearly visible. Villains seem to enter it...
Finally, the percentage at the bottom is now 98%. This seems to indicate that the teaser is almost in its "final" stage and that the image will soon become clear.
In addition to confirming once and for all the launch date for the Chapter 2 Season 2, this teaser makes the connection with the phone transmissions that fans around the world keep spotting in different citites. A mysterious secret "Agency" sends messages about a mission, which purpose remains unknown.
It's hard for the moment to guess what the relief at the bottom of the tweet refers to. It could be echoing many places on Fortnite's map, although at the time of writing it's the island in the centre of the map that seems to contain the heart of the plot.
