NA LCS Summer Split 2020 Power Rankings: Team Liquid take their revenge

Cloud9 are starting this split just like they did with the previous one: with dominant victories. The returning champions are still sitting tight on their throne, and their first place in our ranking isn't yet questionable.

We were expecting Evil Geniuses to be one of the leading pack teams this split — and we weren't disappointed. They stomped over 100 Thieves and absolutely crushed Counter Logic Gaming, without conceding a kill, a tower, or even an objective. Let's face it: it was a proper lesson on how to play League.

Evil Geniuses are very strong contenders to challenge Cloud9's rule, hence their second place in our rankings.

What a sweet revenge for Team Liquid! For most, the departure of Doublelift felt like a betrayal, and Liquid's dominant victory over Team SoloMid certainly was the perfect answer.

After a terrible split, the former champions are starting the summer with two deserved victories and a future that looks quite promising.

FlyQuest didn't have the greatest start of their history, but their performance this week remained honorable — although a victory over Immortals isn't anything new for them. On the other hand, their defeat against Cloud9 is sadly telling.

While they seemed capable to contest the domination of the leading team, they appear yet unable of doing so — hence their current placement in our rankings.

Team SoloMid had a lot to prove, and they disappointed a lot. Just like in 2017, the powerhouse roster they built was better on the paper than it is in reality. It remains to be seen if TSM will improve over the weeks, but they'll remain in the middle table until then.

It's hard to judge Golden Guardians based on two matches, as the team is as capable of greatness as it is of mediocrity. Their defeat against Team Liquid was quite one-sided although their performance against Dignitas was pretty good. Given the current state of Dignitas, this victory only partially reflects the real level of Golde Guardians — hence their placement.

100 Thieves were unlucky this week as they faced the two favorites of the split, Evil Geniuses, and Cloud9. That being said, they clearly underperformed this week and they'll have to grab more wins in they want to go up in our rankings.

Let's face it, the current state of Dignitas is quite alarming. Following the departure of Heo "Huni" Seung-hoon, the organization added four new players to their roster — and the cohesion within the members of the teams seems at its lowest point.

Defeated by Golden Guardians, crushed by TSM, Dignitas had a pretty tough start to the split — hence their current placement.

Immortals have a really good early-game, then they tend to lose control — and that's what happened in both of their games this week. Although a loss to FlyQuest could have been expected, their defeat against Counter Logic Gaming is surely telling about the current state of the team.

Until they manage to grab more wins, they'll remain bottom of the pile.

It's not a great start, but it's not bad either — and starting the split with one victory is surely better than reliving the absolute disaster of the previous one. However, Counter Logic Gaming still have a long way to go as their victory against Immortals still felt quite hesitant.

Moreover, their loss to Evil Geniuses wasn't only a one-sided defeat, it was pure humiliation. Zero kill, zero tower, zero dragon, zero Nashor — the players looked like they weren't even there.

One victory isn't enough to wipe out the previous split, and this astonishing loss definitely plays against them, hence their placement in our rankings despite their week 1 record.
