The charge shotgun isn't that old because it was added in Fortnite v13.00 as a replacement for the classic shotgun. It's now certain that it will be removed in update 14.40.
A decision that doesn't seem to bother players. Between those who have never managed to use it properly and those who find it unacceptable to get a one shot from a fully loaded pump, the feedback from the community seems to be entirely positive so far.
It's also a decision that comes as no surprise. The shotgun had after all been released from the vault through patch 14.00 and the two weapons fulfilled the same role.
