CD Projekt Red suffers major cyberattack

The embattled studio has revealed that it is being held to ransom by unidentified hackers, but refuses to give in to their demands.

CD Projekt Red suffers major cyberattack

Choosing to reveal details of the hack on its official social media accounts, Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt Red has confirmed that its 'internal systems have been compromised'.

Although the hackers' specific demands remain unclear, the message left on company servers threaten to release source code for Cyberpunk, The Witcher 3, Gwent, and 'the unreleased version of Witcher 3'.

They also say they will release documents 'relating to accounting, administration, legal, HR, investor relations and more'.

While the hackers claim that they have encrypted CD Projekt Red's servers, the company confirms that their backups are intact.

They have also notified the relevant authorities, and are preparing for the release of the above given their stance of non-cooperation.

More importantly, the company confirms — to the best of their knowledge — that no player personal data is part of the breach.

This is just another in a long line of issues CDPR have faced in the wake of the Cyberpunk 2077 release, with Sony pulling the game from its PlayStation Store and CDPR themselves offering refunds to players following the discovery of a number of game-breaking bugs and current-gen deficiencies.
