Path of Exile 2, a major competitor to Diablo 3 and the forthcoming Diablo 4, looks very promising.
It should retain everything that makes Path of Exile so charming, as well as the monstrous amount of content Grinding Gear Games have added over the years, while elevating it to a higher level.
Here is a summary of the key points for this ambitious follow-up:
- PoE 2 will propose a massive new campaign comprising seven acts and a lot of new content.
- It will be integrated into PoE, with all content preserved, and players will be able to choose which campaign to do. This means it's essentially two games in one. These two campaigns will lead to the same high level content.
- Many graphic improvements have been made.
- Nineteen new Ascendancy classes are planned, as well as a revision of the gem system.
- There is currently no release date, but a beta may open in late 2020 at the earliest.
The development of Patch of Exile 2 will however slow down the rate of expansions, which until now had been every three months.
