For the Patch 1.12 of WoW Classic, we propose to you to discover the complete guide of the Retribution Paladin. Talents, Rotation, Statistics, Equipment and Trades are explained to you.

WoW Classic: Retribution Paladin Guide

Retribution Paladin in WoW Classic is the definitely the best spec in the game, just ignore the haters.

Tier C (PvE) Tier B (PvP)

The Retribution Paladin is the most neglected specialization of WoW Classic and is only really viable in PvP, and again. Although it's able to inflict significant damage although lower than the average, it brings nothing of interest to the raid since the two other specializations of the Paladin do the same thing and even better! You'll rarely be chosen for DPS in PvE, and when in PvP your main role is to assist other classes with DPS more than yourself while doing a little bit of DPS. They're not a Holy Warrior, far from it, their role is not DPS, not mainly at least.

Solid in PvP
Wear plate
Seal for versatility
2 "free" mounts
Amazing survivability
Good group utility
Not PvE viable
Alliance only
The worse of the 3 Paladin specs
Bad community reputation

Talents

Hybrid 18/0/33 - World of Warcraft: Classic
Hybrid 18/0/33

The Hybrid Build is the most versatile build in Retribution, making it both good at PvP and quite viable in PvE (as much as possible at least). It focuses however on increasing your damage, but this should not prevent you from your main role: assisting your allies.

Stats to Prioritize

Strength> Agility = Critical Strike> Stamina> Intelligence> Spell Power> Mana every 5 seconds

Rotation and Spells

Your rotation depends on the seal you use: Seal of Command or Seal of the Crusader. It is important to note that in raid, the use of the Crusader's Seal is usually prohibited, forcing you to play in Seal of Command.

Seal of Command

  • Seal of Command must be permanently active,
  • Blessing of Might must be active constantly,
  • The aura to which you have been assigned must be permanently active,
  • Judgment as soon as possible with Seal of Command,
  • Consecration (Rank 5) as soon as possible.

Seal of the Crusader

  • Crusader's Seal (Rank 1) must be permanently active,
  • Blessing of Might must be active constantly,
  • The aura to which you have been assigned must be permanently active,
  • Judgment as soon as possible with Crusader's Seal (Rank 1),
  • Consecration (Rank 5) if you have a Vengeance proc,
  • Consecration (Rank 1) if you do not have a Vengeance proc.
Blessings

The Blessings are, like the Auras presented below, one of the flagship assets of the Paladin. They allow a Paladin to buff one or more allies with powerful bonuses, such as the Blessing of Salvation, or Blessing of Might!

Divine Shield

Divine Shield

The Divine Shield allows the Paladin to fully immunize for a few seconds at the cost of a greatly reduced attack speed. Very convenient in case of normally deadly damage! You can also use your Hearthstone whilst inside the bubble for a speedy getaway.

Auras

The Paladin has at its disposal 5 auras. He can only use one at a time but this allows him to buff all the group's allies with a powerful situational bonus: Aura of Retribution for example.

Divine Intervention

Divine Intervention

Divine Intervention is the ultimate spell of thePaladin, allowing them to sacrifice themselves in order to fully immunize a player but puts them out of action for 3 minutes, by preventing it from doing anything. You will die using this ability, but you allow this player to survive and so (if you chose) to resurrect all your allies one by one, saving a lot of time for the whole raid.

Note: Always carry Symbol of Divinity with you since each spell of this spell will cost you one of them.

Best Race For Retribution Paladin

Alliance

Dwarf

The Dwarf's Stoneform is a serious asset in PvP, especially against Rogues. Frost Resistance is also great against your nemesis: the Frost Mage.

Human

The Human has serious assets making it potentially better than the Orc depending on the chosen build: Mace Specialization and Sword Specialization, Diplomacy is also great when grinding reputation, and Perception is very useful in PvP.

WoW Classic: Race Tier List

World of Warcraft: Classic has a number of races to choose from, and making that choice has long-term consequences. You don't want to regret your choice later, so we've broken down the races in our tier list for WoW: Classic.

Professions

Herbalism

If you follow our advice for choosing professions, Herbalism is an excellent choice because if you choose Alchemy you can be almost self-sufficient. And, even if you do not choose Alchemy, it allows you to farm components for your guild or to sell to the auction house and make a small fortune.

Engineering

The Engineer is the best choice by default as it's great in both PvE and PvP. From Goblin Sapper Charge to the Arcanite Dragonling to the Dense Dynamite, everything about this role will always be useful!

Alchemy

Alchemy is one of the most important professions in World of Warcraft because it allows for the creation of flasks but also various potions, some more useful than others. The Paladin does not need to opt for a particular crafting profession to make a specific armour set, so it's the ideal class to opt for Alchemy
