WoW Classic: Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros, Guide

Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros is one of the three legendary weapons in WoW Classic and is the first to be obtained. The legendary mace is also the weapon wielded by the final boss of games first raid Molton Core.

Who can get Sulfuras, Ragnaros Hand?

In total, 4 classes can wear and use Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros:

Shaman
Horde Only
Paladin
Alliance only

In order to obtain this legendary mace, players will have to obtain the Eye of Sulfuras and combine it with the Sulfuron Hammer, here is how to obtain these two objects:

Step 1: Sulfuron Hammer

The Sulfuron Hammer is an epic two-handed mace that is already very powerful and can be made by Blacksmiths with at least 300 skill in Blacksmithing, as well as Plans: Sulfur Hammer. Since it is a non-standard mass, it can only be forged in Blackforge Blackrock Depth, no one else.

Note: The Sulfur Hammer and its Boss, Plans: Sulfurron Hammer, is not bound when picked up and can, therefore, be bought or sold at the Auction House. Remember to take a look here first if you wish to skip making the Hammer.

Get the plans of the Hammer of Sulfuron

If you choose to craft the item from scratch, of course, to make the final item Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros, you will have to find a blacksmith and get them to help you craft. Working with a blacksmith will save you cash as any blacksmith worth their salt will make you pay a high price.

In order to get the Plans: Sulfuron Hammer, you first need to get a Sulfuron Ingot From Golemagg the Incinerator, the 8th boss of the Molton Core. The drop rate is around 35%.

Once you have the ingot in your possession, go to Lokhtos Darkbargainer in the Grim Guzzler, the Blackrock Depths instance Tavern. Normally he sells various objects, but if you have the Sulfuron Ingot when you speak to him, he also offers you a quest, A Binding Contract, for which you just have to give him the Sulfuron Ingot and he offers you in exchange the Plans: Hammer in Sulfuron.

Create the Sulfuron Hammer

With the plans in your possession, you must now strive to obtain the components required for its manufacture, here they are as well as how to obtain them:

Components

How to obtain

Arcanite Bar x50

Transmuted by an Alchemist using an Arcane Crystal and a Thorium Bar.

Blood of the Mountain x10

Mined from Dark Iron Ore deposits or by killing Molton Destroyers in Molton Core

Dark Iron Bar x 20

Created by miners by smelting 8 Dark Iron Ore.

Essence of Fire x25

Obtained when killing all mobs in Molton Core or Blackrock Depths (full loot table)

Fiery Core x10

Obtained when killing all mobs in Molton Core

Lava Core x 10

Obtained when killing all mobs in Molton Core

Sulfuron Ingot x8

Dropped from Golemagg the Incinerator, the 8th boss in Molton Core

Notes:

  • Arcane Crystals can be obtained by Miners in Rich Thorium Veins,
  • Thorium bars are created by Miners by mining Thorium regardless of the type of deposit.
  • The Recipe: Transmutation of Arcanite is sold by Alchemist Pilonzugg in Gadgetzan, Tanaris, for 5 gold,
  • Alchemists have a 48-hour cooldown on their Transmutation: Arcanite, so use several Alchemists or you will have to wait 100 days just to get the 50 Arcanite Bars .

Once all these expensive components are in your possession, meet up with your Blacksmith friend at the Blackrock Depths Blacksmith Forge and let him create the coveted Sulfuron Hammer! Beware, however, the Black Forge is guarded by the Lord Incendius and you will have to kill it before you can create the hammer.

Step 2: Eye of Sulfuras

The last step in making your legendary weapon is to obtain the Eye of Sulfuras. It is obtained on the dead remains of Ragnaros, the 10th and last Boss of the Molton Core, the first raid of WoW Classic. The drop rate is around 3 to 4%, so you will need a little luck to get it.

Step 3: Create Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros

Once the Sulfuric Hammer and Eye of Sulfuras are in your possession, right click on them to assemble the two and create your legendary: Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros. No matter where you are, there is no prerequisite to assemble the two objects.
