As part of a campaign to encourage voters to turn out at the ballot, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez - or AOC as she is commonly known - debuted to some pretty massive numbers on the streaming platform Twitch.
Playing Among Us, the smash multiplayer game that involves sniffing out impostors among a group of crewmates, she did pretty well for someone with no real experience in the game. Not that her lack of hours mattered, as she pulled in over 439,000 viewers to her channel alone at her peak.
According to a tweet from Rod "Slasher" Breslau, this is the third-highest individual stream in Twitch history, behind only Ninja's collaboration with Drake and Shroud's return to Twitch.
Rep. Ocasio-Cortez was joined by fellow Representative Ilhan Omar, for Minnesota's 5th congressional district, and with the pair having an audience likely way past the half-million mark when considering the other personalities streaming, took the opportunity to implore young Americans to exercise their right to vote in an election just two weeks away.
Rep. Omar also posted her PC specs in a tweet - not a bad setup at all!
Politicians using gaming to reach more voters is a relatively new phenomenon, with Presidential candidate Joe Biden also creating an island in the immensely popular Animal Crossing: New Horizons earlier this month in conjunction with Kinda Funny's Greg Miller.
However, gaming is not just a tool for Rep. Ocasio-Cortez - she's a prolific gamer who rates the Nintendo 64 as the best console ever, and has professed to being a silver-ranked player in League of Legends.
And the memes created from the stream were good!
