On Monday, August 26 at At 3pm PDT, WoW Classic achieved the seemingly impossible — it attracted more than 1.1 million people keen to see the launch of Blizzard's throwback to Vanilla World of Warcraft!

Almost everyone knew that World of Warcraft Classic would meet with great success when it was released, something obvious from the hype that had been building over the last few months. 

However, if there was one thing that no one could have predicted, it was the number of concurrent viewers on the many Twitch streams playing WoW. 

The previous record for World of Warcraft was beaten by a peak of more than 1.1 million

Of course, even though everything was going well on the side of Twitch, Blizzard could not cope with such high demand — players found themselves facing lag, endless queues (up to 800 minutes on the US side!) and incessant disconnections. 

The situation seems to have stabilized for the moment, but no matter — record beaten!
