Armoring is one of the Crafting Trade Skills in Amazon's new MMO, New World.

There's no prerequisite to getting started with this skill, just take the gems and ingots you've refined to an Outfitting Station or a Forge in a Settlement and off you go.

Be mindful that you'll need a higher level Outfitting Station or Forge to refine higher quality gear, so make sure you visit a Settlement which has leveled up its workstations.

Is Armoring for me?

Naturally, everyone in New World needs armor. Whether Light, Medium, or Heavy, you'll be able to craft whatever players require.

However, be prepared to grind for a lot of items, whether primary or secondary.

It's a profession which has perfect synergy with the Mining gathering skill, but it also relies on all the professions listed above for secondary resources in crafting armor.

Armoring Leveling Guide

Should you wish to speed up your progress in Armoring from 0-200, we've put together a dedicated guide.

New World: Armoring Leveling Guide

From early-use Linen armor to Faction gear and storage bags, what's the quickest way to level up your Armoring skill in New World? This guide helps budding armorsmiths reach their maximum potential.

Where to find Armoring resources

The vast majority of resources needed for Armoring recipes come from the Mining gathering skill.

You'll need plenty of Ore, which is gathered from the respective Ore Veins found in the wilds. However, you'll also need cloth, leather and other materials, which are gathered from all the other professions.

Ultimately, it will be a drawn-out, expensive profession to max out, and may even require playing the Trading Post for materials you can't grind out (or don't have the patience for.)

Armoring: Most notable items to craft

When it comes to crafting armor, prioritise those recipes that consume the least amount of resources. That way, you can increase the XP gains and level up slightly faster.

In our case, we leveled up Armoring by spamming boots.

Tip

Once you reach a certain level in your crafting profession, resources become more difficult to find. Don't hesitate to switch recipes according to your preferences and needs.

When you switch, the primary material focus changes, but the quantities remain the same. An example being the switch from Linen Boots to Iron Boots.

Why did we choose these?

Focusing on cloth-based armor means less iron (or other metal) is needed, and we found it is much easier to farm fibers than ore veins.
