Note: All the information contained in this article comes from the official communication of CD Projekt Red.
General information
After years of waiting and many postponements, the release of Cyberpunk 2077 is now more concrete than ever. Below, you can find all the practical information related to the launch of the game.
- Release Date: December 10
- Supports: PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series
- Game weight: 70Go required
- Minimum and recommended specs
- RTX specs
- Collector's Edition and Day One Edition
PS5 and Xbox Series versions
The versions that will run on Xbox Series X and PS5 will be the One X and PS4 Pro versions of the game which will take advantage of the basic hardware improvements of the two new-generation machines.
To get Cyberpunk 2077 with ray-tracing and native 4K, you will have to play on PC first. Next year, CD Projekt should implement the optimization patches dedicated to next-generation consoles.
Lore and Night City
Night City, the sumptuous city shining with a thousand fluorescent lights will soon open the doors of its 6 districts. Within them, V will get to know the gangs and mega-corporations that govern the city, as many opportunities for the player to make money, fame and contacts for future contracts.
Gameplay basics
V's adventure will be played in first person, a first for a CD Projekt Red game. A point of view that brings Cyberpunk 2077 even closer to his potential ancestor Deus Ex, with a gameplay that should emphasize the many different possible ways to resolve a quest.
Vehicles
While Cyberpunk 2077 is bound to stand out thanks to its futuristic setting, you should still expect to feel some GTA-like driving as you explore the Night City. The game offers a substantial vehicle list with many retro-futuristic cars and motorcycles.
Customizing V
Those who want to go full RP and create a custom V will have plenty to do with the game's character editor. Aesthetically aside, Lifepaths are the decisive choice to make at the beginning of your adventure. Those will shape the ways you approach Night City.
They will change the whole beginning of your adventure and will allow you to approach certain situations in accordance with the selected path.
Choices and consequences
This is the great promise of Cyberpunk 2077, along with a replayability based on the irreversible consequences of your choices during the game. Many story branches will open and close according to your way of approaching things.
Multiplayer and DLC
Big extensions — of the kind that were made for The Witcher 3 — are already in the pipeline for CD Projekt. A mulitplayer mode has also been confirmed, but for the moment no interesting information has been given about it, except for the presence of micro-transactions, like in GTA Online.
