With Call of the Mountain, Legends of Runeterra's upcoming expansion, an eight region will be added to the game: Targon! Although we're expecting Leona and Diana to soon join the fight, Riot rather introduced one of the most iconic League champions to its CCG: Taric. Moreover, the Shield of Valoran brings with him a new mechanic: Gems.

Taric will be playable on August 26 with the release of the first part of the expansion.

New Targon Champion — Taric

Signature Spell - Legends of Runeterra

In League, Taric was made to support its allies and heal them through a bound he creates with them. His card version isn't that much different, since he duplicates the effect of a spell you played on him on the ally he's currently supporting — just like if they were bounded. For this reason, Taric should easily find a spot in Fiora and Shen decklists...

New card type: Gems

Introduced with Taric, Gems are Burst spells that can't be casted in response to a combat or a spell — which means they're not really Burst spells. As they heal an ally from 1 and grant him +1 | +0, we can safely assume they'll be used in Taric/Heimerdinger decks allowing to level-up Taric quickly.

Legends of Runeterra: New Spellshield keyword with Call of the Mountain

Like Bilgewater, the upcoming expansion will bring a whole new game mechanic: the Spellshield!
