After reaching 50% completion of Assassin's Creed Valhalla scenario and completing the narrative arc associated with Asgard, a new side quest linked to several mysteries spread over eight regions of England will lead you to Excalibur.

As with the Daughters of Lerion, we strongly recommend that you take an interest in this part of the game as soon as possible — as it's linked to one of the most powerful pieces of equipment you'll find in the game.

With a little motivation and good preparation, this task should take you a little less than five hours. While the caves can be explored without worrying about your combat skills, battles against Zealots require a minimum level of 250+.

The first tablet

After making your first trip to Asgard, Valka will ask you to fetch some herbs from the south-east of the map for a new potion capable of transporting you into the world of myths.

On your way to the location indicated by the quest, in the region of Cent, you'll have to go through a whole bunch of small platform tests and some really simple puzzles, leading to the first of eleven tablets leading to the legendary sword.

It may take you some time, but this guide is there to lead you until you solve all of these mysteries placed all over the map.

The sever other tablets

Seven regions, seven temples, for as many small trials of platforms and enigmas that will have to be solved to reach the famous tablets necessary to get Excalibur.

You can do them in any order and there is no need to fight to complete them. Each of the guides below contains a gameplay video with a solution to show you how to proceed.

Old Cellar
Essexe
Santlache Mine
Suthsexe
Wiccan's Cave
Eurviscire
Deoraby Spar Cavern
Snotinghamscire
Red Lichen Cavern
Hamtunscire
Wocig
Hamtunscire

The last three tablets

The last three tablets are scattered in Cent, Essexe and Suthsexe, and you'll have to fight three Zealots to retrieve them.

It's better to be well prepared, so we recommend that you have at least three rations available for each of them, as well as a power level of at least 250.

The trio uses pretty much the same strategy each time, with poison bombs and the ability to heal themselves fairly quickly. For more details, you can consult the guide below.

Retrieve Excalibur

Leave Hamtunscire for Myrddin's Cave. Once there, beware of the bear at the entrance, rush into the crack in the wall to sneak inside without having to hit it — without the required level, it can be really difficult.

Once in the cave, follow the path indicated in the video at the top of the article. Then, in the central square, insert the eleven tablets you've collected during your travels, so that you can pull Excalibur out of its rock.

Characteristics of the sword

Excalibur has exactly the same handling and moveset as the Carolingian Longsword — available much earlier in the game. However, its legendary powers will allow it to add a small burst of light to the powerful dive attack. This generates a slight AOE capable of blinding surrounding enemies.

This sword doesn't need to be upgraded to become mythical — just insert runes and level it with hundreds of iron and leather units.

Why collect it as soon as possible?

If you plan to conquer Hamtunscire — a zone with a power level of 340 — we strongly recommend that you go in search of Excalibur as soon as you can. It's indeed possible to complete quests in this zone as early as level 280 or equivalent. Completion of this thread of quests should lead you to the pacification of England and the final phase of the game.
