Announced earlier this month by Riot, the new expansion is called Call of the Mountain. It will introduce a new and unique region for the game: Targon, home to the highest mountains of Runeterra. We can expect to find heroes like Leona, Diana, Soraka, Pantheon or even Zoe in Legends of Runeterra.
Call of the Mountain set:
- 169 new cards spread over four months
- A new ranked season from August 26
- 13 new champions among the 169 cards
- Spellshield mechanic: cancels the next spell or skill that affects the target.
- New cards for already existing regions
Roadmap
Call of the Mountain is a set of cards with three expansions:
- The first is also called Call of the Mountain and has as many cards as the two upcoming expansions. It will be released on August 26 .
- The second and third expansions are still unknown to this day. They will be released in October and December respectively
- The set that follows the Call of the Mountain expansion will include a new region, and will be unveiled next February .
New region: Targon
New champion: Taric
New Mechanic: Spellshield
Each extension has its own keyword. The one from Call of the Mountain is called Spellshield, and allows a minion to counter an opposing skill or spell that targets him.
New type of cards: Gems
A new type of card, the Gem, is a spell that can heal 1 HP and give + 1 ATT to an allied minion. However, we don't know if this card will be a "full" one or if it will be generated by cards like Mentor of the Stones or Mountain Goat. In addition, no information was revealed regarding Gem variants.
